Broadcasting giant outlines its evolution into a media-tech company at Sandton showcase.

Primedia is officially evolving from a legacy broadcaster into a full-blown media-tech company.

The group welcomed key clients, agencies and industry leaders to its Sandton headquarters last week to unveil the next chapter of its growth — an integrated ecosystem where content, technology and live experiences converge.

At the centre of the announcement, Primedia Broadcasting Co-CEO Kelvin Storie revealed that Primedia+ will soon be available on Connected TV, bringing the group’s premier audio brands directly into the living rooms of millions via smart TVs and addressable devices.

The move builds on momentum from August 2026, when Primedia+ launched on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, embedding its audio offering into the daily journeys of South Africans and the diaspora.

According to Primedia, the shift is powered by Primedia Amplified which combines sponsorship, content integration, experiential marketing, media sales, commercial strategy and digital technology into one collaborative force. The model ensures ideas flow seamlessly across live experiences, linear broadcast and connected platforms.

At the core of the transformation are several flagship initiatives:

Moonstruck Returns: CapeTalk’s iconic sunset beach concert on Clifton 4th Beach in Cape Town has been reborn, blending live music, ocean sunsets and premium social connection.

Kfm KDay Renaissance for 2027: KDay is evolving beyond a music festival into a multi-layered experience with music, tech zones, lifestyle hubs and immersive kids’ areas.

The B-Side Podcast Series with Sishii: In partnership with The Bowling Club, co-founded by actor and musician Sishii, Primedia+ will host a 52-episode series featuring J Something (Mi Casa), Manana and Nasty C strengthening its footprint in the creator economy.

Camomile Live: Aimed at Gen Z, this summer micro-event series will host intimate concerts of around 1,000 attendees across major cities.

P-Flex: Primedia’s advanced real-time booking and buying portal, giving clients direct access to its inventory and digital tech stack at the click of a button.

Primedia Studios Still Dominating: The content arm continues to deliver blockbuster local productions. The Masked Singer Season 3 drew 1.5 million cumulative viewers on SABC and secured a Top 10 spot on Netflix SA. Deal or No Deal Season 4 and Deal or No Deal Celebrity Season 3 are still airing on SABC, having paid out over R30 million in prize money to date, while MasterChef Season 6 on e.tv is pulling 1.7 million viewers, its most-watched season yet.

Primedia says the Connected TV launch is more than a technological upgrade—it’s a cultural milestone that embeds trusted audio and video content into home entertainment.

“Primedia is not merely evolving with technology, we are leading its reinvention,” said Kelvin Storie. “From the roar of live festivals to intimate podcasts, from trusted radio voices to digital smart TVs, we create intersections where culture, content and connection ignite. Our integrated approach brings live experience, linear broadcast and connected platforms into a singular ecosystem that is designed for impact, authenticity and scale.”

Group CEO Jonathan Procter added: “Primedia has evolved from being a legacy media company into a fully digital creative hothouse with its own tech stack, serving rapidly evolving audiences everywhere and advertisers who wish to reach their audiences wherever they are in a meaning and measurable way”
